At the end of this month, on November 30, 2021, important new CFPB regulations take effect. Although written specifically for third party collectors (like collection agencies), they will also have an effect on first party collectors (like credit unions and banks). If your job involves the collection of consumer debts -- whether as a collector or as one who supervises collectors -- you need to learn these new rules!
During this program, attorney Eric North explains in detail what the new rules say, how they affect you and your employer, and the steps you need to take to comply with them. Topics include:
- New limitations on where and when you may communicate with a debtor
- Specific guidance on when telephone calls to a debtor become "harassment"
- What you may say in a voicemail without saying too much (along with sample scripts)
- Retention of records — including recordings of telephone calls
- Steps you should take before sending emails and text messages in order to protect yourself if the email or text is read by a third party
- Who you may communicate with about a debt after the debtor has died, and what you may and may not say
Because of the amount of material to be covered, the program runs for approximate three hours, with 10 minute breaks at the end of the first and second hour.
NOTE: This program is intended only for employees of consumer lending
institutions. Please contact NorthLegal Training and Publications to obtain approval

Cost/Registration
The fee to attend this archived program is $325.00 if paid by credit card or $335.00 if paid by check. For that fee, you or someone from your financial
institution may view this program as often as you like for a period of 180 days. (NOTE: If your financial institution registered for the live program, you already have free access to the archvied version for six months! Contact NorthLegal for information.)
